The Muse Online Writers Conference Hailed as First Of Its Kind

The Muse Online Writers’ Conference, scheduled for the week of October 9-13 and sponsored by Lea Schizas and Carolyn Howard-Johnson, is recognized as the first online conference for writers. All workshops and presentations will be free of charge for attendants. Organizer Lea Schizas, founder of the award winning online writers’ critique community, the Museitup Club, explains, “I understand many writers out there do not have the monetary resources to attend outside conferences, or perhaps they are situated far away. Some may be incapacitated in ways that make it difficult for them to travel. Within the world of the Internet, everything is possible and with this in mind, this conference will offer writers a chance to come out, have a chat with our Presenters, ask them questions and even attend a few of our free workshops to be held throughout the week.”

A growing line-up of authors, publishers, editors and literary agents include Shel Horowitz, Mike Larsen and Elizabeth Pomada, Hope Clark, Deron Douglas, Carolyn Howard-Johnson, Fran Silverman, Cheryl Wright, and many more. The online conference will feature a Virtual Interactive Chat Lounge where attendants will engage in real-time dialogue with presenters, a “ground floor” Virtual Convention Chat Hall where Presenters will distribute material for attendants who may then email questions and comments to the Presenters, and a Teleconference Lounge where attendants may phone in to hear Presenters give live talks. Audio downloads will also be available from some Presenters. An online bookstore and media room are also available on the site.

One of the presenters, Kathe Gogolewski, said, “This conference is unique in that it offers the same benefits that other conferences do with a variety of topics and presentations, however, unlike other conferences, there is unlimited seating yet no crowding, more opportunities for interaction, and a smoke-free environment! This conference represents some of the best that technology has to offer!”

Thanks to Deb for forwarding the link. Note that our very own Devon Ellington and Tina Marie Frawley are among the presenters! I’ll definitely be attending for part of the conference, though I don’t think I can swing the whole thing. Are you registering?
